It is a convenient, easy and quick system to compost food waste in your kitchen, garage, or apartment. Bokashi composting uses a selected group of microorganisms to anaerobically ferment organic waste. The microorganisms are applied using an impregnation carrier such as rice or wheat bran. The fermentation process breaks down the organic matters with very minimum odor. Since the process is done in a closed system, there will be no worry about insects and smells. This makes it ideal for urban or business settings. Unlike other composting systems, the VermiTek Bokashi systems can break down items like meat, fish and dairy products. Bokashi composting is fast and usually takes two weeks. The finished product smells a little bit sweet and pickled odor, and you will often see white mold mycelium coating the surface.
